Balzers, Liechtenstein, 10 January 2017 – Oerlikon Balzers has signed an agreement to acquire Depots Metalliques Sous Vide (DMX), a French PVD coating service provider. The acquisition extends and improves Oerlikon Balzers’ service offering in France and the Medical and Forming Tools market.
DMX, headquartered in Cluses, France, is active in PVD coatings, offering PVD Arc technology and pre- and post-treatment for tool optimization. The company employs 17 people. The integration of DMX will enable Oerlikon Balzers to provide current and future DMX customers with even more know-how and a comprehensive set of offers for surface treatments beyond DMX’s current portfolio. The global footprint puts Oerlikon Balzers in the position to be by its customers’ side wherever they are located.
The acquisition – effective as of 1 January 2017 – has no operational impact on day-to-day business. Business and cooperation with DMX will continue as usual, now as part of Oerlikon Balzers. The production site will remain unchanged and will continue its business as usual.
“DMX has a very good reputation in the market and is well known among key customers in France. This acquisition allows us to expand into the Rhône-Alpes region, a key cluster of French mechanical industry. As a leading player in the Medical Precision Components market and the fast-growing Forming Tools market, DMX’s expertise will further strengthen our position in these two key segments”, says Marc Desrayaud, Head of Oerlikon Balzers Industrial Solutions.
Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
