S³ is an innovative and patented all-in-one solution for vehicle transmissions, whether manual, automated manual or dual-clutch architecture. The key innovation of the S³ system is a split friction ring with a small inner cone angle for generating high friction torque and a large outer cone angle for release without self-locking.
The segmented synchronizer can either be integrated into the existing space in a standard multiple-cone synchronizer (drop-in design) or into new applications to utilize all benefits of the design.
