D-Coat is a technology leader in diamond coatings for cutting tools, in particular for carbon fiber reinforced polymers used in struc- tures of airplanes, ships and vehicles. “D-Coat’s technologies complement Oerlikon Balzers’ existing diamond coating services extremely well. Com- bining our expertise makes us a clear technology leader for these applica- tions,” said Marc Desrayaud, Head of Business Unit Balzers Industrial Solutions at Oerlikon. The acquisition marks the establish- ment of Oerlikon Balzers’ 113 th Cus- tomer Center, which will be its biggest for diamond coatings, in addition to the existing centers in the USA, Korea, Germany (Erkelenz) and Luxemburg.
