An ACW FDY system emits 223,560 tons of CO2 per annum to spin around 200 tons of FDY yarn per day. Optimized for semi-dull yarn, a WINGS FDY 32-end system in contrast emits just 161,673 tons of CO2 per annum.
Fully drawn yarns (FDY) are processed into textile surfaces without further finishing. Fully drawn yarns are used wherever textiles need to fall or glide smoothly.
Oerlikon Barmag also covers this process for common polymers with its WINGS technology. The concept is a quantum leap forward, particularly in terms of sustainability: significantly lower energy consumption, less waste and less space required, combined with excellent yarn quality.
